Life Americana television show is now in
post-production
with the pilot episode shot on location in Southern Georgia. The
Life Americana crew follows a family through a traditional day
of sugar cane grinding and syrup making. The show was shot in
High Definition on a crisp, clear (and cold) November day. We
were excited to find the Wisenbaker family carrying on a
tradition by passing it to the next generation and enjoying a
time that strengthens the family bond.
Our
host, Jeri Colligan, is a Valdosta
State University graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She
majored in Mass Media, emphasizing Broadcast Journalism.
Currently she works as an
assistant at VSU's Satellite Services. Jeri is responsible for
producing university-related news spots, hosting and producing
"The Blazer Half Time Report", and she is a camera operator for
"The David Dean Show". Since 2005, she has worked as reporter
and anchor for News 11; VSU's national award-winning news
series. Jeri will begin VSU's master's program in Fall of 2008.

Life Americana
for Kids!
A segment just for kids hosted by Cali Swift as she gets the
scoop on what kids do for fun at festivals, concerts, and around
the farm.
Life Americana
takes a look at the folk
culture in America today and how it relates to some of the old
techniques used by farmers and ranchers over the last century.
Special guests include: representatives from farm and ranch
associations, government agencies, farmers, ranchers, and
Americana musicians.
A big part of our culture
is the music. The producers of this show are musicians and
wanted to give an opportunity to independent artists to have
their music heard. Two songs will be used in the pilot episode
from unsigned artists. It's a grass roots movement to distribute
our music and culture to a world that no longer belongs to large
corporations, large music labels, and large television
production companies.
Independent musicians
from around the globe all took part in the kick-off campaign by
submitting music for consideration for this episode. Every artist that helped put this show
together by taking part in this process will be listed in the
end credits of this episode with a "Special Thanks". It's
finally time for the independent artists to be heard!
See the list of our friends and visit their
websites.
Please visit the artists'
sites, listen to their music, go to their shows, and buy their
CDs. We
guarantee you will not find any better music than from these
artists and it all comes from the heart!
